Whole-home carbon filtration, softening and RO drinking water for Tacoma homes, installed starting at $3,500. Transparent, all-in pricing quoted before any work starts.
Most Tacoma water comes from the Green River, which drains a 231-square-mile forested watershed in the Cascades between Chinook and Snoqualmie Passes. Tacoma Water filters this supply at its Green River Filtration Facility and treats it with ozone, chlorine, fluoride and caustic soda to make the water less corrosive to plumbing.
Groundwater plays a supporting role. Tacoma Water operates 24 wells in and around the city, and in a typical year they supply about 4 to 11 percent of demand, mostly in summer and fall. Fourteen of them form the South Tacoma wellfield, which draws from aquifers stretching from north of the Nalley Valley to Lakewood.
Because the supply shifts with the seasons, the water at a Tacoma tap can be river water, well water or a blend. Across the Puget Sound region, USGS sampling has found iron and manganese to be the most widespread natural minerals of note in groundwater.
Most of this region's water is soft, so the first thing Tacoma homeowners tend to notice is taste: chlorine at the kitchen tap, or water that just does not taste the way they want it to. Where a city draws on wells, what comes out of the tap can differ from the mountain supply next door.
Whatever your situation, the next step is the same: we pull the public data on your water, tell you exactly what your home needs, and install it for one all-in price.
Every Tacoma job is handled locally, start to finish, by a Puget Sound company.
