Water filtration in Seattle, WA.

Whole-home carbon filtration, softening and RO drinking water for Seattle homes, installed starting at $3,500. Transparent, all-in pricing quoted before any work starts.

Most Seattle homes get their water from two protected mountain watersheds managed by Seattle Public Utilities: the Cedar River and the South Fork Tolt River. In 2025, 62 percent of the city's water came from the Cedar and 38 percent from the Tolt. Cedar water is treated with ozone and ultraviolet light, Tolt water is ozonated and filtered, and both are disinfected with free chlorine, which averaged 1.0 parts per million in 2025.

Which source reaches your tap depends on where you live. The utility says homes south of Green Lake usually get Cedar River water, and areas north of Green Lake usually get Tolt water. Broadview, Bitter Lake, Crown Hill, Northgate, Haller Lake and Pinehurst regularly receive Tolt water, and so do parts of Maple Leaf, Wedgwood, Greenwood, View Ridge and Roosevelt.

Seattle water is soft. In a February 2026 utility sample, Cedar water measured 1.54 grains per gallon in the distribution system and Tolt water 1.36, so the usual conversation here is chlorine taste and drinking water rather than scale.

What Seattle homes are dealing with

Most of this region's water is soft, so the first thing Seattle homeowners tend to notice is taste: chlorine at the kitchen tap, or water that just does not taste the way they want it to. Where a city draws on wells, what comes out of the tap can differ from the mountain supply next door.

Whatever your situation, the next step is the same: we pull the public data on your water, tell you exactly what your home needs, and install it for one all-in price.
