Whole-home carbon filtration, softening and RO drinking water for Federal Way homes, installed starting at $3,500. Transparent, all-in pricing quoted before any work starts.
Federal Way is served by Lakehaven Water and Sewer District. In 2025, nearly 55 percent of Lakehaven's water came from the Green River watershed through a regional pipeline shared with Tacoma, Kent and Covington, and most of the rest came from 25 district wells drawing on three aquifers deep below the Federal Way area. Lakehaven disinfects with chlorine, and the 2025 average was 0.73 parts per million.
Hardness depends on the blend. In 2025 Lakehaven's wells ranged from 14 to 146 milligrams per liter, with a well average of 94.13, which the district calls moderately hard. Blending in Green River water brought the flow-weighted average down to 54.07 milligrams per liter, which it classifies as slightly hard.
Lakehaven notes that iron and manganese are commonly found in groundwater in this region, and water from fourteen of its own wells is filtered to remove both before it enters the system. For homes on a private well nearby, a USGS study of southwestern King County found manganese above the federal guideline in 44 percent of sampled wells.
Most of this region's water is soft, so the first thing Federal Way homeowners tend to notice is taste: chlorine at the kitchen tap, or water that just does not taste the way they want it to. Where a city draws on wells, what comes out of the tap can differ from the mountain supply next door.
Whatever your situation, the next step is the same: we pull the public data on your water, tell you exactly what your home needs, and install it for one all-in price.
